NYC – Coney Island – Deno’s Wonder Wheel Amusement Park
In 1960′s, Greek emigre Constantinos Dionysios (Denos) Vourderis began operating a Boardwalk restaurant in Coney Island and assisting in the management of Ward’s Kidde Park. He took over ownership of Ward’s in 1981, and in 1983, the adjacent landmark, the Wonder Wheel became available for purchase. Despite higher offers, the former owners, the Garms family chose to sell to Vourderis, who with his family built Deno’s Wonder Wheel Amusement and Kiddie Park.
